It’s time for another weekly installment of The Weekly Roundup: The Things That Didn’t Suck. Each week I’ll feature 3 awesome articles that I read during the week that I feel everyone can benefit from, then some random highlights and lowlights from the week for some extra news. Each week you can expect to get quick access to impactful info and learn something new. A lot of stuff on the web just sucks – but not this stuff! Want on the list? The Real Function Of The Big Toe
It is when the hallux (big toe) becomes misaligned, termed hallux valgus, that we see over-pronation of the foot which can shift the direction of bodyweight from the sagital plane onto the frontal or transverse plane,3 leading to a host of injuries, specifically ACL damage in female athletes and runners. In order to reduce these outcomes, the hallux must be abducted away from the second toe (see Fig. 1 right). Here, the hallux is at a much stronger mechanical position to halt this pronation and direct bodyweight in the correct plane. This function is unlikely with hallux valgus, also seen in Fig. 1 (left side).

Avoid These Organic Foods
“Organic” has precisely zero to do with the amount of calories or macros a food contains, so in that sense, you’re better off pretending the word doesn’t exist.

The Art of Getting Your Shit Together
Brain dumps are not only good for clearing your head, but they will keep you laser focused throughout the week. Keep that list with you and use it as a guideline for what you need to get done. This will keep people like me that get distracted by shiny objects on task. It might take some practice and getting used to, but once you get it down you will not know how you survived without it!
